Oh Bella, yes Scrappy was so lucky to find his home and safe haven with you. I have been in similar situation, my dog Attila that I had with my exhusband was diagnosed with cancer just before he turned 6. We had to put him to sleep. It was heart renching, so I absolutely feel your pain Bella...it does get better eventually, grieve as you need to, soon you will get past this sad time and remember the good memories.

Bella44, very sad to read your news.

It is never easy - regardless of the age - when you lose a 'pup' !

Take care and look after you and yours. Take your time to grieve - it is not a race - you do it in your own time.

Each of us handle things in very different ways in all our experiences in life - and grief for a very much loved 'pup ' is just another thing us poor humans have to suffer when we bring an animal into our lives and we love and care for them so dearly.

A big thank you again to everyone for all your kind words. I have only just joined this forum and it was my first experience of losing a dog ( had cats before, now have 2 dogs, did have 3) I cannot believe the level of pain I am feeling, I feel like Ive lost a twin soul, in fact I have, I firmly believe that. To SEAN, - well Sean I think his previous owner has already had her karma because God denied her the knowledge of knowing what a loving, utterly devoted, gentle, funny little chap Scrappy was, so in a way I guess you could say shes already had hers.

When he came into my life he was seriously underweight and infested with fleas, worms and stick-fast fleas, at the age of 5 he had never experienced a toy, a bath or being brushed and he had never been walked. He also was kept for 5 years in a concrete yard ( the pound told me quite a lot about him at the time) and I even had to get him used to using a dog bed at night , as he had never had one, luckily he picked some stuff up from my other 2 dogs.

Needless to say from the moment I bought him home he had everything a dog could wish for including bones/kongs/enrichment which he had never experienced and I moved heaven and earth once I thought he had arthritis, but anyway, I believe she already got her karma because she never knew what a little darling he was.....................and If I called her all the names I would like to under this earth I would probably be banned from this dog forum altogether lol

You can see from the pics above what a terrified little chap he was sometimes even after 3 years of loving him daily But as you say in the future I must remember the good times and all the funny little things he used to do

To Oskars mum, I totally share your pain and indeed the pain of everyone who has lost a dog or someone dear to them. It is very unlucky to lose dogs at such an early age, all we can do is remember the love they gave to us, and the love we gave to them, thats what counts.

So very sorry for your loss... Scrappy will be looking out for you now...

Thank you again to everyone for your kind words yes he was a character, sadly his first owner never got to know that. Still, thats karma. Thank you Newfsie, I am actually an artist and when I paint his portrait from my photographs I will entitle it "A tiny Angel for rainbow bridge" Bella
