    Default Comfortis

    Hey guys..
I use and swear by Comfortis for my breed..
Just wanted to know what others think that use it
can I cut it in quarters and give a quarter to my little girl
..I currently have and use the over 50kg ones
I was talking to this lady and she said you can ??

what do you guys think ??
would be so much easier if I could just buy the over 50kg
pack and cut up for the littler dogs..

Other wise I have to buy 2 different ones for the different body weight
and they are like $80 a packet...

I don't know about Comfortis but my parents buy Frontline plus 40-60kg and simply measure it into smaller amounts for their Toy poodle. Its cheaper that way

I use confortis think it's great, only because I don't have to stress about Maxi playing with cousin cat or timing of baths, or beach like I was when we were using advatix. Though he hasn't had a flea or tick whilst in our care.

I don't see why you couldn't break the big tablet, for the little ones. I noticed you can do it with antibiotics because when maxi first came home from his op we were given the small size of cavlox 1 and 1/2 dose and now with his seroma lump we have a bigger tablet which we have to half for morning and night dose. But I would check with a vet

yeah I couldnt see why not..will check with vet though..
I NEVER use any drops as they don't seem to work for this breed..
I used advantix twice in the one month and fleas were still there..
Started using comfortis when it first came out and never seen a flea
    on my property..
The tablets are scored so I can't see why not..

I swear by the stuff too but only with food. Empty tummy's and comfortis dont mix with Mojo.

I'd break it up but i'd round of any sharp edges.

I'll never use anything else now. The stuff is magic.

Yes always with food, Maxi first attempt he up chucked, but vet gave replacement tablet...Aparently the company that make them garenteed that if it's tablet is spewed up they will replace it.

Whenever I give Maxi meds I have to disguise it in food. I usually roll it us in a bite size ball of raw mince and then it's swallowed never to be seen again.

I don't see why you couldn't break it down, I'd check with the vet just in case though. The makers of Comfortis have released a new product in the last few months.. paranormis. It treats fleas, intestinal worms and heartworms, so just one tablet a month and my girls are good for everything! Plus it works out much cheaper as one 6 month packet of paranormis is only about $100

Manufacturers will not endorse the practice as the active ingredients are precisely measured doses into each tablet mould and although they are shaken afterwards to mix they cannot guarantee that one quarter of the tablet will not have 90% of the active ingredient and the other 10% in the other three-quarters of the tablet. Which would mean underdosing in one quarter and overdosing in another, etc.

Therefore if you divide up a higher dose, you do it at your own risk. I have been doing this with Milbemax and Sentinel for many years, though, and I haven't yet had a problem.

KM do you mean Panoramis? I remember you mentioning this product on another thread and i googled it and could not find it anywhere! (The way you spelt it LOL) but by luck the product Panoramis came up and i find what i think your talking about. Miss M's run out of her current treatment so i'm thinking of switching to this!
