    Default What clipper/shaver to get?

Hi, I've recently got a miniature Poodle puppy, and I'd like to learn how to groom her myself, and have been looking into what clippers to buy. I'm really not sure what to get though and would really appreciate some advice. I'll spend up to $300, but would prefer less. I've heard that the Oster A5 is good, or the Wahl KM2, but I am thinking a cord might get in the way a lot, and I am concerned they are too big to do face/feet. I've read some good reviews on the Wahl Arco which is a rechargeable, smaller one, but I am not sure if this would be too small for the whole coat, or not strong enough to go through her adult hair. Although I would probably feel more confident with the Arco as there is no cord and its not so big. Also, I am not sure how much you can vary coat length with the Arco? I don't want to cut her very short.

If anyone has any recommendations or advice, I would appreciate it, as I want to buy one soon and start getting her used to the vibrating feel on her skin and such .

I have a Oster for main body clip and it is powered.....And a little wahl for the little bits which goes on re-charge. We also have a huge Sunbeam.....Which is for horses, but very reliable brand.

We have had our Oster for many years and also use it on the horses, so it is tough. The Wahl runs out of power after what i consider a short time We also have a re-chargeable Andis...Which is the same size as the oster and hold a charge really well. They also fit the same blades........Blades are very expensive It can do a whole newfie.........We use the clippers for both our horses and newfies, hence we have a bit of a collection.

Sometimes the blades are waht lets you down too...finding someone to sharpen them is also a bit of a hassle when you live rural. So I have 3x 7.5. Which is great for newfies and 2x 8's and a few other sizes

I think I have saved myself a fortune doing it all myself, so spending money on a good set is well worth it. I don't think you can go wrong wit the Oster combo with the small Wahl.......

I've been looking at the clippers some more, but what is turning me off the Wahl Arco is that quite a few reviews state that the combs pop off, and the replacement blades are quite expensive ($50+), and apparently not all sharpeners sharpen them. How often do they generally need to be replaced?

I'm wondering if its worth getting an Arco for FFT, they cost about $200, or if I should just get a Wahl KM2 or Andis AGC? Can I use these bigger ones for FFT, or are they too difficult to maneuver? I've heard the Oster A5 can be heavy and run hot..
