    Default Scared of Being Brush

Well before Boss ate rat bait we could brush him, now we cant. He tries and eats the brush and tries and get away from you.

We think it might be something to do with his getting clipped when he was sick. They had to clip him cos they had to do ultra sound of his lungs.

I wanna get back brushing him cos he is shredding at the moment.

Anyone know any good hints to stop him from hating being brushed

    Does he like being patted?

Start by using wet fingers as your brush. Will get heaps of loose hair out.

Then get a rubber curry comb from equestrian supplies. This feels the same as fingers - according to my late horse and every dog I've ever known. Use one hand with fingers and one with the comb and just "pat" the fur off.

If he is a very short coat, you can also try a squirty bottle of water and a damp shammy (chamois) leather. Put squirty bottle on fine mist setting. Spray the coat with water, and then wipe down with the shammy.

Start each method with the lightest pressure your dog will tolerate and build up. Do short sessions often and praise/treat lots when he does what you want.
