I don't clean my dogs teeth. They just get regular bones, keeps their teeth nice and clean.

Same here. At 4 1/2 years of age the vet says their teeth are perfect.

'goggles' - which teeth are you talking about here ? Black doesn't sound like teeth plague.

I also have never cleaned my pup's teeth - use bones, apple pieces and carrots.

I do. I feed Sammy several chicken carcases (if not whole chickens - he's a very loved dog) every week to keep his teeth clean, but I also spray some teeth cleaning fluid onto his teeth daily. It's just a bicarb solution that I spray directly onto the teeth and takes them from clean but slightly off-white to so white people comment on how good his teeth look. Vet thought he was 2 based on his teeth and he's over 4 so pretty happy with our dental routine I would recommend something if you notice anything on your dog's teeth, because preventative measures are so much easier (not to mention cheaper) than going through the vet, which is a route I went down with my last dog.

Pigs ears are also great for keeping teeth clean if your suss on bones. I buy them buy the hundred. They much cheaper if you buy them in bulk.

bicarb is a salt - not the same salt as sea water salt.

sodium bicarbonate - so something like Sodium + (carbon and oxygen)

    regular salt is
    sodium + chlorine (choloride).

I hate bicarb except in cake. Really good in fruit cake. Definitely not for cleaning teeth with.

I did buy a dog toothbrush and beef flavoured toothpaste but really couldn't be stuffed using it, and it didn't seem to make any difference to her teeth.

not like a good carrot, some roo jerky or even her dinner still frozen. In a kong...

PS and she mostly gets to drink tap water (with fluoride) so that's gotta be good. And she gets a bit of dairy (yogurt or end of milk carton rinse out) so that helps.
