Cool Looking for grooming teacher Northern Sydney

    Hi

I have a crestepoo (toy poodle/chinese crested x) and want to be able to do some of the grooming myself (basic clipping and trimming - around the eyes and backside etc). As I have never owned a dog before, I am looking for someone to come and teach me. I am willing to pay of course. I have checked online and not really finding anything. There is a community course I found at Eastwood, however the dates do not suit me as they are Sunday's and I will be out of the city on the dates they have provided.

Does anyone here do this or know someone that can do this? I want to be able to use clippers and clear matts - the hair is long hair. He is a puppy and at the moment he is not overly compliant with the brushing but is improving.

    Thanks.

    No idea.

I was going to suggest a chinese crested breeder but they might not be thrilled that you've bought a cross breed.

I know a couple of people involved in rescues around Adelaide that would probably help but that's not exactly handy to Sydney.

I think maybe asking at a rescue org like the RSPCA or AWL if they know anyone who would be willing to help and maybe you could give back in return once you have some skill or make an appropriate donation back to the org in exchange. All the rescues that take fluffy needs a clip dogs would have access to groomers.

I have no idea about someone to teach you, but if you're willing to try this, there are loads of tutorial videos on youtube about grooming dogs. I doubt there would be a specific one for Chinese crested X Poodle, but you could learn from videos about grooming those two breeds separately
Using clippers is pretty simple once you get the hang of it.

Ahh fair enough then Check out some videos and see if you feel confident enough, if you don't then don't push yourself. Hope you can find someone to teach you! Would your vet teach you how to use clippers?
