Also with the Holistic brands there is no grains or yellow corn which is not very good for dogs

    Default Innova Evo

I feed my dogs Innova Evo.. it is grain free and they LOVE it, you can get it from pet goods direct of pets paradise stores I think. It is made in the USA from all fresh ingredients, no animal by product. They usually get this kibble in the morning, and for dinner fresh mince or chicken necks.

WOW! I saw a programme on TV the other night about cats that had been badly affected in their hips and back legs by an imported pet food. The manufacturer reckoned it was caused by the irradiation required for all imported Pet Food!

I am now looking for Australian made Pet Foods. Any ideas?

Yes advace is Australian and yes i am an Australian living in Australia but Advance is glorified Pal. I dont know if Pal is available to any other countries but they are both made at the same company. Pal is full of cereals and by products.Try to read up on every brand you find and look into the ingredients. I feed either eagle pack or Eukanuba or Hills if the others are not available. Try to talk to your local pet food shop and see what they recommend and why. Hope this helps

    Hills science diet.....

I have been feeding my 2 dogs and 2 cats on this for the past month and I have found the dogs are a bit constipated! They have to walk & struggle to get the poop out....does anyone else find this?

I have also found the cats (mainly our indoor only cat) isn't too keen on this brand either.

I have catlax that I have given the dogs to help them out a bit (ok'd by the vet).

Just wondering if anyone else has a similar prob?

I am going back to Iiams I think...seems to be liked by all the pets and better at the other end too!

Everyone will have diffrent opions about what is best, but really there is no one best food. There is such thing as a best food for your dog, but the only way you will find out what food that is, is by trying diffrent foods and finding which one your dog performs the best on. But a good place to start is the Hills Science Diet because that is a food which is consistanly good.

Whatever you do i would say DO NOT use Hill's.

It contains preservatives BHA and BHT that has been shown to cause Kidney and Liver Disease, Allergic reactions, Dry skin, Dental Disease, tumor growth, cancer and over all poor health.

Be very carfull when feeding your dog or cat any manufactured pet food, as due to sh*itty quality regulations on pet food they are allowed to put horrible things in them and they dont have to disclose these things on the ingredients on the pack. the only way to know what is in them and what the preservatives and addatives could do to your pet is to get in there and research everything yourself and then make a well informed decision.

Also it was shown that the Canadian manufacturer of Hill's was using Euthanized dogs and cats in the food as well as a meat by-product.

And remeber that vets only know what they are taught in vet school (sometimes 40 or 50 years ago) and as we all know the world is round not flat so the teachings they are given can be very out of date or one sided to the corporations that manufature the foods and vaccines and put money in the pocket of the vet to promote their product.

I would never feed my dog an all dry food diet so mix it up a bit.

I feed my Dobermann a BARF diet made up of Chicken Frames, Raw Bones, Eagle Pack(or other natural product), Kangaroo tails, Scotty's naturoll, and a Vets All Natural product that is a human grade Kangaroo meat mince mix that contains all the essential vegetation that an animal would get from eating the contense of a prey's stomach. I also mix the Vets all natural essentials supplement, Omega blend oil and Pet pep up (a probiotic suppliment) in the mince mix.

My vet could not get over what a solid, well built puppy my Koda was at the age of 9 weeks and that has continued on this diet, he has tried to recommend such things as Hill's to me however i did my reasearch on these types of foods first and found that the toxins they contain should not be feed to any living animal.

I am currently toying with the idea of establishing a website that investigates all pet foods, products and vaccines so that people can get the good and bad information on everything in one place because i know when i started researching this stuff you need to go to heaps of different sources to get a full picture.
