Thread: I Think He's Too Skinny

Default I Think He's Too Skinny

I know he's healthier on the slim side but I am used to my Ollie being fat and now I can feel his ribs and when I bath him he is so tiny under that thick coat.
When he eats he scoffs like he's starving. He's around 8kg's and I think he looks starved but others say he looks great.

I'm feeling odd.. like maybe the weight loss has gone too far. I'm thinking of feeding him twice a day instead of once but don't want to increase his weight, but just maintain it. I don't want him losing any more.

*sigh* I don't know what to do. I hate seeing them eat their food like they have been starving all day

    PUGGER.....

I don't know anything about the Pug breed size, ideal weight etc... but judging by he's pic, Ollie looks good, he don't look skinny at all, i can see a few little rolly polly skin folds. If your worried about he's weight loss or weight gain, maybe try feeding him he's regular amount of food in 2 servings, bigger serving in morning & smaller amount in the evening.

The folds are loose skin from the weight loss I think.

I'll try splitting his serve, but it's already tiny, like 3 small chicken necks and a 1/4 scoop of kibble if that and every other night around a tablespoon of raw roo instead of necks.

Pug was there a reason why he lost weight?? Diet?? He actually looks fine as AF said. Love those gorgeous little rolls tho.

Pugger he looks fantastic! He looks similar to the ones I see at shows (and better than some!).

The skin folds are fine, they should be there - don't get tempted to fill them up! You should be able to feel his ribs, just not see them.

Is he more active? Is there other good things about the weight loss? Apart from looking so spunky that is!

Maybe try and focus on them instead of worrying yourself about his apparent hunger? I'm sure like most pugs he's good at telling you that he's starving! Two meals a day might be a good way for you to feel better.

Hi Pugger, as everyone else said Ollie looks great. Splitting his meal in two sounds good. Maybe add some carrot or other veg to make it seem bigger for him.

I agree with the others, he looks great!
Im usually turned off Pugs due to the fact majority of them are overweight, but Ollie looks perfect!

Would a vet check put your mind at rest if you feel this way? Discussion on diet?
