    Default Marrow

Just been surfing around and came across a Veterinary article which said. Some dogs are allergic not to raw bones, but to the MARROW within the bones. Anyone ever heard of this or had this experience ? Seems quite incredible to me,

I've never heard of it PB. But I've never heard of a dog being allergic to raw bones either!

Wouldn't that be like a dolphin being allergic to fish??

    I agree with you Natt...

Dogs being allergic to bones sounds rather odd IMO

It wasn't the raw bones per say. Rather the protien in the marrow, rather like some dogs can be allergic or intolerant to protiens in other food sources, ie chicken or beef etc. Still sounded incredible, however perhaps if the dog had other contributing dietary problems ??????

Nope, if my Westies have a raw beef bone to chew they scratch themselves to bit. Can't eat any beef at all.

They can, and do, eat and love raw chicken frames without a problem. Oh and don't have any reaction to roo either .............. just beef.

Guess it is just like some people are allergic to different foods.

If dog is allergic to beef, it's going to be allergic to beef marrow.

Marrow is extremely "rich" ie very high fat. Sometimes that can cause tummy upset too. In dogs and humans.
