    Default Wintery Morning Treats

So the weather is cooling down now, I know I love my morning cup of hot coffee and kids love hot chocolate drinks, So why shouldn't Leo have a nice warm brekky treat aswell?

Do you give your dogs any special warm breakfast foods?

I gave Lil and Leo left over porridge this morning while it was warm and they loved it.

Hi Bec.... i slightly warm up/ take the chill off/ zap in the microwave Floyd's food in the cold mornings, i cant over warm it or it will start cooking & that defeats the purpose of raw/ barf diet

Just a hint, please note the amount of porridge you give your doggies as its full of gluten & i've been told by a Vet that gluten can cause tummy issues in some doggies, your Vet would be able to tell you more i'm sure.

Porridge can also be quite fattening for dogs - we often give it to the skinny greys that come to us and need fattening up. Our greyhound vet recommended it to us.

I was just thinking about the same thing..

But, I have no idea what I could give my dogs in the mornings.

We have a Chihuahua, a Beagle cross and a Toy Poodle X Mini Foxy.

What would be suitable for my three (that can count as a winter morning breaky etc)

    Any suggestions??

I was also told this with my boy Jethro, he has three serves of porridge a fortnight to try and keep the weight on him. Great stuff!!

I'm feeling mean and nasty because my mob only gets a bit of hot water over their biscuits or if they're lucky some chicken gravy.

Mine haven't got anything yet as I don't know what to give them.

I was told that pouring hot water over dry food is good for them as it moistens the food and makes it nice and warm. True?

Mmmm... greyhound porridge... I make it with powdered milk and sometimes gravy powder.

I've even added melted lard to it for real skinnies in cold weather.
