Default Should I Feed Her More?

just wanted to know whether its normal for dogs to keep on wanting to eat. Because lexi always still seems to be hungry in the evening (10pm+) but i don't want to feed her too much because she might get fat. i feed her twice a day, brekkie which is dry food, than evenings which is canned food. I also give her some tidbits during the day. but because seems hungry at around 10 or 11 i've been giving her a handful of dry food. So is this alright or do i run the risk of her getting overweight? at the moment she in good shape can just feel her ribs when she lying down. would be grateful for any suggestions. thanks

If she is a good weight then she's probably getting enough, some dogs are just food moochers! Matrix is like that, he can hear a cornflake drop from the other side of the house!

You can pad out the canned stuff with grated carrot etc, it will make her feel fuller. Giving in to her "hungry eyes" will only encourage her to give the look more often, it's up to you to decide how tough you want to be with that sort of thing.

You'll get used to how much she needs over time.

well shes 18 months old, a pomeranian shih tzu maltese cross, so reasonably small. I should probably be a bit more stern, but its so hard especially when they start whining and looking at you with those eyes. Because she the first dog i ever had im still a newbie when it comes to dogs. by the way, is it normal for dogs to beg as in stand on their hind legs, because she does this when shes hungry?

lol, she is trying to con you! Do as GAG has suggested, she is obviously very food motivated and yes, you do not want her to beef up!

Mine, all my life have always had their dry food on tap 24/7 with never a problem (30 years of owning dogs as an adult) and my parents did before me. They have always been self regulating and I have never had an obesity problem.
(Except when a dog was also eating all the dry cat food, so that was put out of his reach)

Like Di-Dee ours have constant access to their dry food. Some days it doesn't get touched
