The best person to ask is your pup's breeder. Giant breeds have special needs so it's best to talk to someone who knows and understands your breed.

Just my experience - I was given some Iams Healthy Naturals puppy food and was far from impressed. Was hard to get them to eat it, and hard to keep weight on. I also had the driest, scurfiest coats I have ever had... Yuck.

I wouldn't feed it again, even if it was free!

I agree with Deerhound. Speak to the breeder or contact the Dane club for feeding advice.

I've got my pup on Iams large breed, he loves it and is doing well on it.
It all depends on what your dog does best on, imo, but I would stay on large breed formulas no matter what brand you choose.

With a large breed in particular, it is essential that you feed a super premium food. I have fed Nutrience Holistic Giant Breed to my Newfie for 2 years now. It's a bit more expensive but you can't put a price on a happy healthy dog! If you want to compare product or prices, pookinuk.com.au is a good website!

I definately agree with Newfienut! I have always been concerned about my Golden Retriever developing hip or elbow displasia as they are so prone to it. I've used a lot of different brands, but have been particularly happy with Royal Canin. They have a giant breed puppy formulation that I would strongly recommend trying.

IAMS and Eukanuba are made by the same place just incase people didnt know its just IAMS is a premium food while Euk is a super premium.

Advance is basically on par with IAMS I haven't used it myself but have been using IAMS and my dogs are doing fine on it.

Royal canin has really good specific breed blends but there all breed mixes are pretty average.
