    Default Canidae

I've switched from Black Hawk to Canidae Life Stages and so far my dog is crazy about it, has anyone else had any experience with this food?

Why did you switch? Were you having problems with Black Hawk?

I wanted to try something new and I had heard a lot of good things about canidae and the price was good.

I wasn't having any problems with Blackhawk but I've read a lot of really bad stuff about it on other forums.

My dog really loves canidae - so far.

What did you read about it that was bad? I've always only heard very positive things about it...

I've read a real mix of stuff about black hawk - but I'm still feeding it.

I found a couple of small bits of plastic embedded in the kibble which made me wonder about their quality control and cleanliness. But I've found bad stuff in other brands of dog food too - especially the natures gift treats / kibble.

I figure a few small bits of plastic won't hurt occasionally. She eats small bits of plastic sometimes because I like to give her things like the yogurt tub to finish and sometimes she chews the tub up too.

Never had any reason to try canidae.

My dog loves supercoat too. Like teenagers love maccas... so my dog's opinion is not my go to source for which dog food is "best for her". She'd eat bacon sandwiches exclusively if she had her choice.

my dog eats bits of plastic all the time - he pretty much swallows anything that fits into his mouth and he's got a big mouth.

haven't had any emergency's so far.

I'll probably try a grain free kibble next.

When Maggie was a puppy she ate endless amounts of wood, incorrigible. Rarely now thank goodness. But not plastic. She does love the Black Hawk, have no reason to change and she only gets a handful a day anyway. Eats raw otherwise. But a grain free kibble would maybe interest me, keep us posted in this thread goggles.

Can i be rude enough to ask how much this 'canida' is ?

The boys are killing my wallet as they chew through a 20kg bag of Blackhawk every 3 weeks now. I'm considering adding something a bit cheaper to the mix. Something to blend in with the Blackhawk kibble. Has to be top tucker though.

canidae is a bit more expensive than blackhawk. blackhawk is $90 for a 20kg bag and canidae $120-30 (about) for a 19 kg one.

I think Bonnie is about half the price of Black Hawk - if you find a fodder shop - for people who own chickens and horses - it often has a selection of good dog food that farmers feed their dogs when there isn't a bit of roo or sheep available or as well as...

And it's way cheaper than the pet supplies shops have.

There's some great family run fodder shops around Adelaide - no idea how they continue to exist - ok one is directly opposite Morphettville racecourse and surrounded by horse yards...
