I must say that my dogs to better on a good commercial food than they did on home made when I tried it fo awhile. I feed a mix of the high protein grain free Holistic Earthborn primitive natural, Nutro Natural choice and good old Supercoat. I also give meaty bones, chicken necks and raw meat occassionally and I use 4 legs meat roll as training treats. My dogs are working sheepdogs and they are lean, glossy and full of energy and will work all day if I let them. My old retired dogs also do well on this mix. Nice and easy and I can easily vary the mix and the amount I feed according to what each dog requires.

Nah - her vet was good, it was the other forum she went to that scolded her for even thinking about it.

By the way I make a casserole / meat loaf thing for my dog and she gets that + 1/4 the kibble I would normally feed if I was feeding only kibble. But even when I feed only kibble - it gets a sardine with olive oil mixed in or a few spoonfuls of yogurt depending what I have available.

Maybe we need to resurrect the recipe thread. But there's plenty out there.

I would rather feed my dogs raw ingredients if I am going to add to their kibble. They like raw apples and carrots and of course any raw meat. Hearts are good. I also usually have one of my sheep in the feezer that my neighbours cuts up for me, bones and all. I give them chunks of this at least once a week. Kibble still remains the mainstay though.

Why feed a mix of 3 if I may ask, especially the supercoat? Buy brown rice its cheaper then supercoat and does the same job without the other rubbish in it.

    Brown rice -

that's how I know which crap belongs to my dog... seems to go straight through unchanged.

Lucky dogs yours are! Wish I had access to meat as fresh as this.

Is the Holistic Earthborn Primitive Natural Australian made? (Save me looking it up) I'm looking for a grain free alternative to Nutro to introduce to Brian's diet.
