Default POLL: What Do You Feed Your Dog?

Just want to get a bit of a gauge as to what people are feeding their dogs.

Feel free to comment along with your poll submission.

Personally, we try to stick to a mixture of BARF with raw meat, veggies, fruits, oils, eggs, yoghurts, wet foods, the occasional dry food and left overs.

We get our BARF from a guy close to us that delivers it or I make it myself and freeze it.

For us the main thing is always reading the ingredients. We will never buy anything that has un-natural preservatives, too high sodium, grains, rices etc as the first ingredient.

    Thanks!

I do a mix of high grade grain free kibble (earthborn primitive natural), a good quality kibble(nutro natural choice) and a standard quality kibble (Supercoat) in roughly equal quantities.

I also add the raw bones, chicken necks and hearts a couple of times a month. I use a mix of high quality and standard quality sausage for training treats, which I use a fair bit of. I also feed any vegtables or fruit I have left over, and any table scraps.

The dogs seem to thrive on this, with nice glossy coats and lots of energy.

    another thread about Food :-)

    here's our list

    1. Science Diet
    2. Raw (mostly brisket and meat with soft bones) mix with pasta and some veggies
    3. Weekend treat (like hocks, ears, wings and bones)

Lately I give them more raw and pasta because of the hot weather

Mine get chicken necks, chicken frames, chicken wings, diced chuck steak, mince cooked up with vegies and mixed with either rice or pasta. Fresh fish, lamb bones but preferably beef neck bones, lamb or beef heart and liver, and a couple of times a week an egg or tin of sardines each.
They also have a constant supply of good quality dog biscuits available.
If you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then giving Fido only two of them. ~Phil Pastoret

I'm not sure what mine would come under.

I feed Phuds (Phud's Natural Dog Food) for normal meals
I feed Black Hawk dry food in treat balls or for food hunts in the yard etc
I give a raw bone or chew every now and then

A friend of mine said that natural doesn't mean anything when it come to labelling. She said that there are no special regulations to be met prior to a company saying their product is "100% Natural". But when the label says "Organic" then that means no artificial stuff.I prefer home made stuff.

Mine doesn't fit with your poll. Raw with dry/kibble, and leftovers.

Many people feed raw without conforming to the BARF craze.

That is correct, but I guess I was assuming we all knew what we meant by natural.

For example, when I see peas, brocolli, pasta and real meat/fat in the food instead of jelly that usually indicates to me a more natural food as compared with...

Yeah I found it hard to name tag everything.

I suppose when I say BARF I usually refer to RAW + Bones and or BARF. Personally I do both.
