Round and round the merry go round

Beloz why wait for "the new laws" when they didn't care about the old ones? The only sad thing is THEY DIDN'T DO THE RIGHT THING WHEN THEY PURCHASED IT. Remember that there were no PTS LAWS THEN?
How are you a responsible dog owner if you don't abide by the laws to begin with?

Why am I not a responsible dog owner just for not registering my dogs with Council ?
Registering a dog doesn't make you a responsible owner.

Thats a pretty big call and one that is hard not to be offended by.

I feel about this the way Peter does.
Such a shame for the dog but laws are laws.
I am not required to register mine out here but I would if I had to..yep, even if they were pitbulls. I also would have done it when I first had them and yep, even in Victoria.

If the owners had done this 6 years ago they would not have had a problem. It could then be proved that there was no problem with their particular dog during the last 6 years.

If I lived in Victoria now I would not choose to get a pit bull after this legislation as I just don't need any possible problems.

So by ignoring the laws go with owning a dog you call that makes you responsible, go figure.

    Are you serious Peter ?

So registering a dog makes you a responsible owner???
And not registering deems you not responsible????

Actually forget it ... this is just becoming irrational.

So are you an advocate for killing the SWF whose owners didn't register it when they got it then? Because that is what this is about: the punishment for not registering your dog for most owners is a piss weak fine, and for some unlucky ones it is the death of their dogs.

And you seem to be forgetting that the council had offered an amnesty for those who had not registered their dogs. Which was basically a promise from the government to 'forgive' the not obeying of the registration laws by any dog owner. And that these owners tried to register their dog before that grace period ran out. You may insist that the only 'right thing' would've been if they would've registered their dog when they got him. But they could've chosen to never register him. In the end them attempting to register it during the amnesty was what cost their dog his life.

But anywho, if your argument is just going to be "but it's the law and if you haven't followed it to the letter you should just shut up" then I don't even know why I would bother arguing. This whole forum is about BSL being insane legislation that should be fought tooth and nail.

I also have to agree with what Peter has to say. At the end of the day the owners only have themselves to blame for allowing their dogs to be in the situation they are in. They broke the law and now their dogs are paying for it.

I hate BSL & i hate that two dogs are being PTS through no fault of their own and i agree it is an unfair decision made by a bunch of wanks, but if the owners had complied to the rules 6 years ago, there wouldn't be a problem.

I don't agree with the comment 'if you can't register your dogs your are are an irresponsible owner' having a 'tag' attached to your dog does not qualify you in the 'responsible owner' category. I have my cats & dogs registered for 'piece of mind' that if they ended up in the pound it they would be returned to me, but personally i think it's all a big council money spinner.

Beloz have you even read my posts in there entirety ? I've said on more than one occasion that I'm not an advocate of the PTS punishment? Which bit of this don't you get? I don't make the rules or the punishment, I just abide by them, it really is that simple whether you like it or not.
    Choppa, here you go.......
"RESPONSIBLE" 1. Having an obligation to do something as part of a job or a role. 2.Being the primary cause of something so able to be blamed or credited for.
Clearly no.1 doesn't mean anything to you as you believe your not obligated to register your pet.
So my apologies, the owners of the pit bull and people like Choppa are responsible dog owners and as such will be responsible when the sh%# hits the fan.

Oh for crying out loud ......

My dogs are chipped and registered on a pet data base.

    I'm out of this now
