Yes the foreword is biased. If you read further you would find statistics, media reports, reports from the police, data from autopsies and independent studies complete with the sources, years of the studies and all other data.

It's a shame that you continuosly cut off your nose to spite your face....

I'm not going to waste my time reading what amounts to a dialog of pro BSL litany. The garbage in the foreward and picture of the homepage is proof enough of the bias contained within. Only a self deluded joker would try and hold this up as evidence. I don't have to read the whole thing to pick it apart. The home page cotained enough comedy.

That's the amazing thing about the internet. You can find anything to back you up, whether it is legitimate or not.....

Im just quoting an expert AngelanBatty

Just out of interest clubsprint have you ever been bitten, threatened, attacked or mauled by a dog or animal? I do actually agree with you on some points but BSL isn't one of them.

BSL has way to many flaws in implementation and in the application of the legislation let alone in the identification of breeds, dogs that are truly dangerous will not have the legislation applied to them, as ANY dog can be dangerous and that is fact unless you wish to take the line that only "pit bull" types will attack, maim or kill. BSL is an ineffective band aid solution at most and has been driven by hysteria drummed up by media and unfounded opinions over the very tragic death of a young girl. People that have been let down by laws and legislations that are and were already in place to protect them should have more respect shown to their memories then a law/legislation that simply is infective to deal with the real issue in a non emotive setting.

Well back to the book....I am shocked reading about the newfie in it's early times.......Wow.

Funny thing about the Saint Bernard's that she does not mention is that in that time they had a large infusion of Newfoundland, because they had lost so many Saint in a fire and had lost so many of their genetic pool. I have not read it all yet......But I will eventually

Mind you when I first had my Annabelle from Rescue, she was aggressive and awfully off tap. That is why I am so into training. But it still shocked me......

Some of the accounts of the Airedale surprised me too!

It's pretty amazing about the Newfie. I actually thought they had only ever been used for rescue/recovery...

I do know that they make good guard dogs, they are after all a mastiff of sorts as is the Saint. But there are so many rescue/save people stories that they have drowned out some of the past.....The newf has been known to attack bears to protect their owners, which is amazing. But like it says they were popular at the time and that also means more things are likely to happen. there is a recent story of four attacking a labrador in the USA.....I am not surprised. Any breed of dog allowed to free roam as a pack is an incident waiting to happen. Any breed of dog is still a dog. And thus will behave like any dog in an environment. My Breeder has always told me how important it is not to leave newfies in the backyard/on a chain alone. Meaning not integrated with the FAmily. She tells us they do not cope. Annabelle was one of those. Lived alone in the backyard with hardly any human integration. She was full on agro. Still I would expect that from most dogs. just her Breeder cares. And will only home her pups to vetted homes.
To me training is the only answer.....i still will never allow Annabelle contact without us being there. Unlike Katy, who I happily allow to socialise with anyone. I do trust her. She has proven herself again and again. but I would never leave any of my dogs in any situation where there are cruel or stupid people, because then the people factor becomes unpredictable. We are responsible for our dogs and we are responsible to protect our dogs ( from idiots)

I think some of you need to stop being so rude to clubsprint.
It's ok that you all post links to articles, books and video's against the BSL, so it's ok for him to do it for his point of view also.
