I was put in hospital for a week after an attack from a dachshund when I was in grade 4, I say ban them first

I would happily have a pitty in my household

A Jack Russel attacked Ruby when she was about 11 weeks old, it was not long after we got her. It was only quick cause the other half was standing right next to them but I will never forget it.. Little Buggers Grr

See and this is what confuses me..
people want to blame the deed not the breed, but they are more than happy to admit that they can't stand Jack Russells

I love JR's. But I have never had a run in with one! I think they are little cuties! haha although my MIL's one did have a chop at Harley when he was a baby. I think he was just showing him his place in the his house though!

There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.

I love JRTs too. And Foxies. I think if I get a second dog, it will have be a mix of one of those with something else. Maybe a Foxy/Schnauzer? Or maybe I'll get my first purebred pup, who knows.

I often run into people with small dogs that react rather aggressively to bigger dogs (the dogs, not necessarily the people ). I always tell them that I understand that for a dog that size attack often seems like the best defence. My old dog got nipped by small dogs occasionally and I just laughed at her. I always thought she deserved it as she was such a bully with dogs closer to her size. When she got attacked by a small dog, she just stood there looking sorry for herself though. Never broke any skin and she would just walk away and leave the little ones to think "Ha! I showed her!".

I know it is not something that should be tolerated - small dogs biting - but it just looks so funny sometimes. Like the JRT I used to live with. When she had pups she used to try and bite the ankles of any man that entered the yard. Which was not good because her owners were having their kitchen renovated. One day one of the tradies told the owner that if the dog bit him once more he'd kick it to China. The dog must have heard because she left him alone after that. She was too tiny to break skin, which is probably why the owners thought it was ok to just leave her be. I don't condone it, but god it was a funny sight to see this tiny dog hang off this big tradie's trousers as he was trying to walk towards the gate.

Once her pups were all gone, she calmed down again and just kept it at barking her head off at 'intruders' again.

I cannot think of any specific breed that I don't like. Some I like more than others, just like I like people with certain personalities more than others. I have a friend who can be so insulting to owners of small dogs. Will make comments about "tiny brains" etc. It always makes me cringe so much. He is definitely "breed-ist".

I have a small dog and there is no way I will allow her to show aggression.
She used to bark and lunge when out on walks, but I put a stop to it right away.
No dog is funny when they are being aggressive, I don't care what size they are.

Just because we can't stand JRT's doesn't mean we are asking for them to be banned and wiped out....

    Totally agree with this.

Someone once thought it was funny that their Pomeranian had a go at Phoenix's face, lucky one of us took it seriously because Phoenix could have reacted and bitten the little Pom but I intervened before it could go past her dog trying to bite my dog in the face.

Yeah, I do know it's totally politically incorrect and if I had a small dog I would not tolerate it either. But my sense of humour can be totally wrong obviously.
