Thread: 'Pits' Being Sold Online

  1. #1

    Default 'Pits' Being Sold Online

One of this mornings headlines across the news front is " Pit Bulls being sold online in NSW"

Until more info has been obtained from the group here in NSW little can be said or put in place. From all reports though ,owners are being advised to keep their dogs well underfoot and safe ( something that should already be in place

We do know that this will no doubt end up on the NSW ACO's laps so be aware.
There is definate talk of upgraded door knocks and an upheaval of the current dog registries in the State.

Will tell more when there is more to tell.

Now; as a note. Just because enough general public have finaly brought this to light does not mean we all go out and panic, life will continue as it always has

Shouldn't this be reported to the police?

    Shouldn't what be reported Hyacinth?

You dont think a news headline will be noticed by our own fair police force?

I can't find any "headline news" about it. Chances are there is no way police would do anything unless some member of the public rang up, complained and provided then with enough information to act on eg.

Can't find any online ads either. Though there are a lot of mystery dogs on there and a lot claiming pedigree that probably are not.

    Was on Sunrise.

And yes,99 point 9 percent of the dogs are probably not what are claimed.

Yeah I saw the interview with the 'President' I think they said the of RSPCA. I actually respected what he said in that legislating against breeds is not a workable solution and laws need to be adjusted to deal with individual dogs, their behaviour and owners.

He said he owns a Pit Bull himself that lives with his family including his kids and 8 cats quite happily with not a problem.

I think Koshi was quite surprised that he firstly owned a pit bull and secondly said they make very good family pets.

Yep Shelby, I thought he was quite taken aback myself,as if he's never even entertained the thought.

Well, dogs that look like true APBTs are washing up in pounds all over NSW, especially in places like Blacktown and out west. They usually have at least 1 or 2 in with every lot that comes in once a week. Doesn't surprise me.

    Nor me Sierra.

But there is only a handful of us that help this breed, most rescues wont ( with due reason I guess in todays climate). And only a number of pounds will help us in releasing them, others will PTS if owner does not reclaim.

Just a shame that a whole breed must suffer at the hands of imbeciles that shouldn't be allowed to reproduce let alone own a pet.

I agree, Chop, I am always incredibly frustrated that they are even listed on pound websites for the public to see, because they aren't allowed out anyway. They barely stand a chance in NSW because the bogans who breed them are making a worse name for them in other states. Aghhh.

The rescue I work for got a pit mix out because the pound listened her as kelpie/staffy to explain her nose. Good thinking on their part but it's only one life amongst many.
