The people who were silly enough to jump up and down claiming the breeds were the same are now in a desperate fight to save not one but two breeds from BSL due to the Amstaff coming under fire.

By the way I would be getting permission to repost pics from a Breeders website as some are not okay with people reposting their pics.

.....Except, a Pit Bull is just an unpapered Amstaff. Yes, these are registered papered American Staffordshires. The breed is recognised by many kennel clubs, the 'Pit Bull' is not. I have been told countless times, over and over again, they are the same breed, but one is 'recognised', one is not. One side, the AST side, mischiefmaka's side, are breeding for the club; conformation, temperament etc., the other are breeding for oringinal purposes, the ugly side of things.
I have changed the title, as no, they technically are not Pit Bulls, but they are, in a way

I am speaking of them in high regard, I knew the breeder was a member, and the photo has the prefix in big clear writing. I found the photo on her website. I was fairly sure she wouldn't have minded, as I wasn't speaking poorly, or downgrading the photo or her breed or anything like that, I just wanted to share the photo. I could have given the link if that was better. I wouldn't have posted a breeders photo if I didn't feel like I 'knew' the owner, if you get what I mean.

I have an AmstaffXPitbull here and if I took what people say about the breeds then he is infact a purebred?? I can assure you the dog looks nothing like a pure Amstaff or a pure APBT. It looks like a bitza which is what it is.

The whole debate of wether they are the same dogs has been done to death. I know all about the arguments and people claiming they are the same breed. My comments simply related to thread title which implies the pic is of Pitbulls when the dogs are Amstaffs. Regardless of the arguments about wether they are the same breed or not, the dogs in this thread are Amstaffs. Yes according to the Councils if you have an unpapered Amstaff it is automatically declared a Pitbull. But these dogs are papered. There are many people out there who disagree about them being the same breed.

Their DNA says they're not the same breed.

They are two separate (but similar) breeds. Amstaffs are not bred to serve a purpose like APBTs--they are a working breed. Amstaffs are generally bred to be a well-rounded dog suited to urban living.

I dont have any problem with the pic being posted, but if ppl want to re post one in future id appreciate a "heads up" b4 you do.

As for the whole APBT V's AST debate...Its all comes back to what ppl classify as an APBT and Bully T this might be why your dog looks like a cross bred mixer...Ppl have been cross breeding the so called apbt for many years and this is why one " so called" apbt looks nothing like the next, hence the mixes there of looking like nothing more than some sort of " bully mix" ....

I wont get into this debate too much, what with the current climate being the way it is for my breed atm....but the ppl who know me know i believe in breeding to as close to the old " style " as i can, hence the more terrier look and ability i prefer and strive for in my dogs.
