There are several breeds banned in Aus.

Can't remember them off the top of my head sorry. I think Pits might be banned in Qld??? Could be wrong though.

From Wikipedia: "The importation of the Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro, Japanese tosa, American pit bull terrier or pit bull terrier, and Perro de Presa Canario or Presa Canario into Australia is absolutely prohibited."

I think this means that any of these dogs who are here already would be classified as restricted ie. would have to be desexed, muzzled etc, and not that they would have to be surrendered and pts....?

Just call me a google weenie

Judge I really have no interest in creating a big argument of sorts over BSL. I think the Law is disgusting and have no objection to people who don't follow the rules!! I sure as hell don't. In fact my comments were not aimed at you at all.

I applaud you for doing all you can to keep your dog safe. To me keeping a restricted dog safe means following the "rules" as you are allowed the dog. You have stated in a previous post what you must do to keep Bailey and although the law is disgraceful at least she is able to get out and about which means you can teach people about the breed. For me it is all about doing what you can to keep the dogs from being taken and pts.
As for keeping a banned dog safe, I don't post pics on the net, I don't give any information on the dog breed or otherwise. I don't go to dog parks anyway so thats not an issue. Dog is chipped with a mixture of breeds, did lots of socialising young so stayed well behaved and social. Dog does not sit in the front yard, dog is crated when not home. etc etc. He walks daily, the same places due to too many wandering dogs. Is allowed to meet people. I make sure I talk to people about the APBT and try and change peoples opinions of the breed. Dog lived with a friend for about 7 months due to some issues here and lived with two APBT. All dogs kepts safe in fact unless people knew my girlfriend they would not have known the dogs were there. So in a nutshell, keeping them safe means doing what you have to, to keep the ranger away!! I don't think you need to hide them away forever but being aware that you have a banned breed and if caught you may lose your dog makes me very careful about where the dog goes, who I talk to about him in Public etc. Hopefully you can make some sense of what I am saying here.

I agree it was the owners stupidity, but the poor happy dog had to pay for his bad actions.
Yes, sorry, my mistake, it was Send In the Dogs that I was watching.
