Bowing out of this thread before I say something I regret
I really don't understand why you have so much aggression towards other peoples opinion that might differ to yours!!

I also don't recall reading anybody calling you a moron either.

I cannot sell, giveaway or advertise her (she must be pts if I cant keep her). She must be kept in a yard that is cages top, sides and bottom so as she cannot jump, dig or climb out.

It is also approx $10,000 fine for knowingly registering her as a different breed. She is currently registered as a Terrier Cross. Also registered under another council as I am currently awaiting approval to register her at my mums house.

To everyone else...........I hope you never have to but you would feel differently if it were your breed in this situation.
This is why I don't understand your aggression in the previous post. You are allowed your dog!!!! Obviously with restrictions in place but its not like the Council will come knocking on your door to seize your dog. My comments relate to the people who knowingly get BANNED or RESTRICTED breed dogs and DON'T keep them safe!! And as for the comment about posting pics etc of your dogs on the net people have been caught out by posting too much info on the net. I don't post piccies or have any info on the net about my bitza boy for that exact reason.
You have obviously done your homework and good luck in keeping your dog safe. But seriously you need to chill the hell out!!

It has not been said in this thread that you can't be proud of your dog or her breed. It wasn't even stated that you must keep her locked in the backyard, in fact the comments didn't even relate to you Judge!! It was about the people who don't keep them safe!!

There is a big difference between restricted and banned.

Restricted just means there are some rules when walking your dog... and if it is the law you should obey those rules.
All you are doing is risking your dogs life if you do otherwise, registered as another breed or not.

If you buy a breed that is fully banned and know full well that it is banned then sorry, but you get no sympathy from me... the DOG will get sympathy, but not you.

I know my views will probably make people angry, and even if the law is not right... it is still the LAW.

I think restricted vs banned is an important distinction to make.

I also hope like hell Judge is never in a position where she can't keep Bailey, because this is a part of the law I find particularly hard to stomach:

The thought of my dogs being intentionally harmed makes me feel physically sick, so I'm not surprised if she got a little defensive about this thread. However, as everyone has said we're talking mainly about banned breeds, and I'll agree you'd have to be an idiot to deliberately acquire one of those dogs because it is never going to end well for the dog.

Judge, Bailey looks like a lovely girl and I hope all goes well with your council inspection.

No it wasn't moron it was 'moronic'. And no it wasnt specifically aimed at me. I wasnt getting aggressive towards anyone in particular, BSL itself is what makes me angry.

I would like to know what you mean SPECIFICALLY by keeping them safe? No dog parks? No off leash time? What exactly??

Well this is where our opinion differs Bully.....I will NOT hide my girl from the world and I will flaunt her good behaviour etc. If I can change one persons view about her breed...yes even via the net....then I will be happy.

Yes your are completely right..........I should muzzle my dog when in public.......my dog who has SEVERE anxiety issues when meeting men.....my dog who feels completely insecure when muzzled........my dog who has no more reason to wear a muzzle than yours does.

She is NOT registered as another breed at all. She is registered as a terrier cross. She IS a cross breed and she IS a terrier.....how am I lying exactly?

Yeh your right about obeying the law. Hang on a sec Il just nick off and grab my white flags to wave over my head and surrender to something I completely disagree with.

Final thing I have to say to you CL is that I am glad for your dog(s) and your sake that the 22point system doesnt describe your dog........

Perhaps I shall buy a Golden Retriever next and move to QLD...........Oh no that right.........they fall under the 22 point system too...........better obey the ALMIGHTY LAW!

I hope my dogs are never involved as well... but if they are I will have to obey the laws.

Yeah sure, it sucks... but I don't have 10k to pay the fine.

I'm not picking on you Judge, just trying to make a point When you said terrier cross, it sounded like you were deliberately dodging the DD tag... now I know you aren't so I apologize.

What's done is done.... try and lobby for the rules to be changed, but while you are doing that, it's best to do what the 'big men' in government want.

Hmm... Interesting thread. I didn't know that about the restricted breeds. Kudos to Judge for doing her homework. What happens if you have a banned breed? What do you have to do?
