I get what you're saying Bully.

And yep, the road just turned sharply downhill in terms of owning the breeds we choose to own. In the end the only problem we'll have with our dogs is changing the batteries

At this point I just want to cry. Bye bye freedom of choice. Hello control by morons who don't seem to have a clue.

My heart goes out to John, Kylie and Tango. It is truly heartbreaking that they have been forced to give up a member of their family.

Just as bad as forcing a mother to give up her baby IMO. As much as I don't want to anthropomorphise the situation, canines do become your children and most people care for them as much as they would a child.

What has happened to common sense, decency and freedom? It is becoming harder and harder to find in this society.

Please no one take this the wrong way I am fully discusted by this!
But I am trying to think of good things beacause if I dont I will keep crying.
So I thought about it... This thing started in 2004, it is now 2010, these people have managed to keep their dog around for a HUGE amount of time! They have given him the best lift that they could, and hopefully, a long life.
God its in a bad way when I have to try that hard to get such a flimsy point

Breeding, Showing, Training and general crazy making!!!

This decision is a bomb that was always going to go off, now it has.
It may well be that the fall out will not spell doom and gloom for the AmStaff.
No registered breed has been banned here yet and even the dimmest of sparks in GVT has to have an inkling that BSL is not working.
The new laws focus on owner responsibility rather than breed, so maybe BSL will fall over rather than the AmStaff.

Respectfully borrowed (with permission) from Tybrax's Facebook page:

Council has passed the buck onto the state gov. Logan Timms has stated he cannot comment as he has not read the submission but would like to hear from people with their concerns.

Mr Mokomoko's efforts helped overturn 57 other dog misidentification cases all the while trying for his own dog over the years. This disgusting city council has asked the government to clarify whether American Staffordshire Terriers should be treated the same way as American Pit Bull Terriers.

So, instead of conceding that in reality they can't identify dog breeds, and that maybe, just maybe, they should look to punish the deed instead of the breed, they want to cover their bases by including more dogs in the legislation.

There are an estimated 25,000 Amstaffs in Qld, and over a thousand on the Gold coast.

It seemed only logical that the next step would be for Councils to attempt to ban the Amstaff.

The Laws are disgusting and so many innocent pets die because of the stupidity of these breed bans.
Trying to hide the truth has not worked BullyT, it only took a case like this for it all to come out, you cannot honestly think that when a half million dollar court case is in progress that the truth would be sought on the internet let alone a dog forum.
Had the AmStaff folk not deserted the Pit people and tried to make out they had a different dog to start with it might not have come to the point where thousands of family dogs were taken and destroyed.
There is safety in numbers and sensible action not lies

Like everything that gets banned it will just push things further underground. I cant see any dog owners moving their family members on or getting them pts cause of council legislation.

Not only that but banning just punishes the people doing the right thing. The ones who are delibratly causing dangerious dogs are the ones who will not give a sh!t that its illegal!!
