    Default Victoria and Dog Legislation

Well - this will be the absolute dizzy end if what the Vic govt has done - and if it is included in their state’s legislation !

The RSPCA is even cranky about it all !

First there is BSL, and now this? (oh and in my area, dogs can legally be walked off lead anywhere, its so frustrating )

Victoria's dog laws are stupid, end of story.

    Yep - I agree with you !

    Ops – didn't check the dates – Revision 1 is already in – 11/4/2014 - sorry !

DEPI - Breeding and rearing businesses

So – dogs can be bred once they are 12 months old. No mention (?) of what time frame for the five litters – then all you need is a vet to say OK to keep on going ! Dog farmers and BYBs will love that !

So effectively – a dam – if she comes in heat every 6 months – can be bred by Dog farmers and BYBs - every six months until … when ? Breeders registered with their state canine control council are restricted to 2 litters every 18 months.

Responsible, ethical and registered breeders who care for their dogs and the breed would never breed the ar$e out of their dams. There is no point in having 5 or more litters with the same dam. If she doesn't have worthwhile pups by the second litter – then she is retired.

The dam would have to be a one of a kind and very special before any of the breeders that I know and admire would even contemplate something like that - let alone actually doing it ! They are more interested in caring for the breed and only breed when they need another pup to run on and more importantly – when they can also improve on what they have already in their kennel.

Well bred dogs will be a thing of the past !

Gosh its so horrible isn't it I wish the people who have authority over these kinds of things would look at the facts and make some smart decisions for once
I'm afraid you might be right Riley, well bred dogs could well be a thing of the past
