    Unhappy Fraser Island dingo's

Well, the barge is booked, and the camping and vehicle permits are also organised...time for another venture to the amazing Fraser Island. Only this time...instead of a alcohol fueled fishing trip.....the wives and ruggies are tagging along....should be worth 600,000,000 brownie points

4 four wheel drives, 8 adults and our 2 kids...we did offer another family along but my mates wife was having none of it...didnt even consider it !!!
Her exact words..."I cant believe your taking your kids there. I'll never step foot on that island with all those deadly Dingo's !!".

With a attitude like that i'm glad they arent coming.....they wouldnt enjoy themselves at all.

How bloody silly is that !!! Sure i dont go out of my way to pat them......but i dont see them as anymore of a threat than a pissed of poodle with a attitude

I actually feel sorry for them. Every year we go i see less and less. Every evening we used to go right up the beach away from any camp sites and clean and fillet our catch for the day (somtimes 100 + fish depending on how many blokes in the group). We always had a Dingo or 2 sniffing around for a easy feed and i had no qualms about feeding them as many fish frames as they could handle. Nowdays the skinny little buggers look in bad shape. I dont think they are managed well at all on the island. The whole place has so many rules and regulations it's becoming frustrating....cant even have a fire going either.

I hope the powers that be dont destroy whats left of the most purest version of Australias only native dog. Sure theres no such thing as a 100% dingo anymore but these guys are close enough to deserve some better managment in my opinion. I dont know what the answer is....but they are going down hill for sure so somthing needs to change. I'm really looking forward to showing my kids such an amazing animal in the wild.....i hope they can do the same for thier kids one day.....if theres any wild ones left.

What do you guys reckon ??? Are you scared of dingos after watching the media reports ?? Should we be allowed to feed them ??? What can we do to preserve these native dogs ???
I'm keen to hear your thoughts.

WoW Sean, have a great time!!! Uh, I reckon the poor dingoes should be left alone...people have wrecked enough habitats...they should b allowed to exist there without any one harassing or feeding them..I would have no problem about going to Fraser Island with my girls. As long as the children are supervised which is just a parental duty anyhoo.

Thanks O.M.....looking forward to it big time

Problem is that some 'green' groups are suggesting we should be visiting the island at all......i agree it would be in the dogs best interest but surely bioth human and dingo can co exist...the aboriginals did it for god knows how long. I'd be devo'd if they banned 4x4's from the island.....iut's a tricky situation for all parties.

I'm going to have to watch my 5 year old...she's dog obsessed....she'll be sat down and told all about the possible consequences if she dosnt respect these dogs for what they are. But i want her to see and understand these dogs....they really are amazing animals IMO. I have to watch her like a hawk but still make it a fun time for all.

I think that's the key - I know Dingo and human should co exist - but they are still not a domesticated dog and needs more experience dog to understand their behavior.

My mates misses dosnt like her kids going outside, the kids are so white you can see thier green viens clearly...sad stuff but they can play a mean xbox. I'd rather my kids getting grubby and having fun outside. I'm glad they arnt coming along now.
