    Default Breeding Enquiry

    Hi
I am very new to breeding french mastiffs so I would like to get some advice.
One of my females is currently on heat and will not let my male mount her.
It is currently day 8 since her vulva has become swollen..
I understand that around day 10 she will give in and they will then do their thing..
Just looking for some advice and thoughts from others..

Please do not criticize, as a new breeder we only learn from others and if others give us
a chance we can become successful.
I come from another forum where advice is something you can't ask for unless you
want your head ripped off..Basically to get knowledge you have to just read about
what people are talking about..So sad as the experienced breeders need to let go a
bit and make some room for people like me that want to become just like them.

Please note all my dogs have been health tested and are registered and I am a registered
    Kennel..

I am Breeding for QUALITY not QUANTITY

Glad to see you are doing breeding the right way.

You won't get your head bitten off for asking advice here, especially when you are doing things the right way.

I am not a breeder and never intend on being one so I can't answer your questions. But we have a few in here so I am sure they will be able to help you out.

Have you got a mentor at all? Having a mentor who already breeds in your breed is probably the best thing you can do for yourself, a guide to help you the whole way through. Have you spoken to the breeder of your bitch? He or she may be able to help you out.

    Hi There
Thankyou so much for your lovely reply.
Unfortunately my mentor past away and I have no one
that has this breed.. Would LOVE to be in contact with someone
that has this breed..Would be fabulous..

Can't wait to read replys from some Experienced breeders with same breed.

    Once again thankyou

No experience here either but welcome to the forum.
MAC, MITTE and NATTYLOU are breeders here (gawd I hope I haven't forgotten anyone) but do not breed your breed.

Any posts made under the name of Di_dee1 one can be used by anyone as I do not give a rats.

That is very sad that you lost your mentor. Have you considered attending some shows to meet more breeders and see if anyone would be interested in helping you out?

I believe CRESTED LOVE also breeds. But as Di mentioned none breed Dogue's but could answer the majority of your questions.

Hi Welcome to the forum! I love Dogue's! Would love to see some pictures... sorry I can't help with the breeding questions, I second K&P about possibly attending some shows to meet some other breeders!

Thankyou so much for all your welcomes..
Yes was very unfortunate that my mentor past with cancer..
I have attended some shows and as stated in the recent
newsletter from the president of Qld Dogs
Many breeders & members have begun to turn on one another by engaging
in verbal attacks not only at shows but largely on social networking web sites.

This also happens when attending shows for some friendly advice.
All members/Breeders should exercise some common courtesy during this important
time and avoid the unnecessary comments that are detrimental to our common goals as
well as the dog world generally.

Anyway back to breeding , Hopefully I will get someone here that does breed French Mastiffs
or even a breeder with knowledge to give some positive and friendly advice..

    Oh your in QLD, cool!

No breeders of FM here sorry.

The only Australian forum you might find a French Mastiff breeder is on DOL (DogzOnline Forums). You could try there. Although as I mentioned earlier the other breeders here are very knowledgeable and would be able to answer pretty much every question you had that didn't relate to specific genetic health issues etc.
