I'm very sorry to read about the puppy. It happens with large litters and bigger breeds. My whelping box fits next to my bed (the joys of a smaller breed), and I'm easily woken by squealing and squished puppies . I got told once, how true it is I don't know, but it makes sense to me, animals have litters or multiple babies because deaths are all part of it. It's modern medicine and constant supervision that prevents as many deaths as nature would sometimes dish out.

Even the best of dams lay on pups.

I wouldn't worry too much about the hard tiles, if it's really hot I'd prefer the cool of the tiles to be able to come thru the blanket but of course the harder the surface the more easily she squishes them. But it's one of those things that you just have to look at and weigh up sometimes on a day by day basis in horrible weather.

I' always a zombie for the first couple of weeks of a litter.

Well mum and pups are doing well, and our vet said he is amazed at how much they are all thriving He went on to say that the team at the emergancy centre that done her c section didnt think the outcome from all that happened looked very good for tips!!Glad she proved them all wrong!!
Was a interesting morning he said to me you have done a wonderful job caring and looking after tips and all her pups and you should be very proud of yourself for the wonderful outcome...... he then went on to ask if i have ever given any thought into becoming a vet nurse and i said well i was trying to get into a vet clinic so i could do my cert 4 before i fell pregnant with our last son but was having trouble then i had harry and got busy and so on..........but now that he is 1 i was looking at trying to get into vet nursing and starting work again but wasnt sure where to start cause most of my past experience was with horses and cattle, well he said we are always looking for people with good animal skills (big or small )to start there cert 4 training here and to make sure i drop my resume off to him today and he will put in a good word for me and see what he can arrange
Hopefully this is the rainbow at the end of this shit storm for us

Oh wow! That would be great if you can get work, trying to get into that industry is pretty hard. I wanted to be a vet nurse but gave up in the end! lol

There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.

Congratulations with the puppies and the new job! You prove the say "taking care of animals are their own reward"
The puppies really are cuties. If I wasn't expecting a new girl from over seas in the next year I would be there in 7 weeks to pic up the white one with brown patches hehe
