    Default Breeding with AI

Well as i posted earlier I am looking breed Norwegian Buhunds, I have organized a gorgeous Grand Champion bitch named Chloe to start a good line in Australia. However I am having trouble finding equal quality dog that breeders are willing send to Australia. After talking to several breeders at the royal show this year I have decided to look into AI but I am not sure precisely where to start.

Does anyone have any advice on where to start or what questions to ask in regards to finding a breeder with a suitable stud dog

    thanks

I'd be going back to those breeders you already talked to or your favourite vet or their favourite vet. Especially the vets that help out with rural properties and sheep and cow and horse AI - because that's probably more common than dog AI.

Your best bet is to talk to the breeders who currently have her/bred her.

They can tell which attributes need improvement etc and what lines would be best used over her and make suggestions of which breeders to approach.

There are vets that specialise in the process you may be lucky to have one near you or may have to travel a few hours.

Have you joined Dogs WA yet? Vets specialising in AI often advertise in the journal.

If not some times breeders have to bring over young dogs as not too many will part with a good stud or brood bitch, after all it's what we're aiming for.

    thanks MAC.

Chloe was born 2009 and has been shown most of the time and her breeders would like a litter from her first litter before they send her to us which I understand.

They have given us some suggestions from where to import and I will be contacting those breeders but i was wondering if their might a sight online for AI studs to be advertised
