If she is not on the register then she is a back yard breeder. Protect her breed? More like, she knows she wouldn't be able to register them so she makes up an excuse to why she isn't selling with papers OR she just doesn't want to spend the money. I think it would be that she is making excuses because if she sold them with papers she would be able to afford to do things the right way.

Like you, she probably decided at one time or another that it would be a fun thing to do, so she went about breeding without researching or she researched and became defensive and wouldn't listen. Either way, she is breeding from NON show quality dogs. If they are papered and she did all of the required testing, the pups would be sold with papers and the ones who don't make it, get passed on at a cheaper rate to be sold as non breeding pets.
Perhaps she is telling you what you want to hear because she is worried you will try to return her if she isn't going to make you money.

So many inconsistent things about this story. I'm starting to wonder if we are being had by a troll.

I'm rude because I don't believe you? I am stating facts and you don't like it and are becoming defensive.
I am not a rude person at all, in fact I do my best to make sure each member is treated with respect.
I haven't told you that you are a rude person. I haven't called you anything.

I am going by what you have said and it's not making sense to me so I am trying to make sense of it.
What I said are my assumptions. If you can't handle that, then that's your and your dogs problem, not mine.

the story is, i bought a dog of a REGISTERED breeder, as a pet, after getting her i decided i wanted to breed her, so i came on here for opinions, THEN after SOME constructive feedback i called her and asked about her papers, she told me she can get me her limited registration papers not main because other breeder ( of the mother) requested that all pups sold were to be on limited register or no papers, (as pet) so there is nothing she can do. she told me if i want to breed her she is a perfectly good bitch and she will make nice pups with the right dog. i asked her why she didnt keep her and if she is not up to breed standards and she said that was not the case at all. she either kept her sister or her and they were as good as each other but she could not keep both, she said that her sister would have been too hard to sell because she needs an operation to correct an ?umbilical hernia? and most people would not want the added expense of doing that so she sold my girl.
thats it. i dont know how that implies that she is not a good breeder or does not care about the welfare of her pups or anything else you have said about her.
and the snide remarks about me well you have no idea what sort of person i am so i dont care. have a nice day all of you.

You became defensive 3 pages ago.
Have a read through at your responses.
You were happy with the posts that gave you ideas on how you can breed with the dog and put down the posts that tried to explain why you shouldn't do it.

As soon as you read something you don't like you start throwing snide remarks and get defensive.
That sort of behaviour will cause a not so nice reception. I may be a moderator but I am also human and if some shmoe comes in here and puts my members down for giving advice in the first and only thread the person has been in, then I will get annoyed.

if you are not a troll and you are not lying, then you better sit and listen to experienced people who know what they are talking about, before breeding. You may learn something valuable.

If you insult one more member of this forum I will ban you.

I am having a nice "day" thanks.

Do you want to stick around and learn a few things regarding breeding or are you just going to do what you want?

If you are not interested in staying then don't post.

    Ok... Bear with me here... I'm trying to get my head around the facts;

The pup was purchased from the sire's owner? Does that mean the owner of the sire perhaps got two pups as a stud fee? Or did the sire's owner whelp the bitch and raise the pups?
I'm thinking if the (papered) sire's owner took two pups / whelped the litter from a (papered) bitch, then that person should have papers for the litter as the other sister is to be shown?
Therefore, your pup has been sold on limited register to you because the sire's owner does not want breeding to occur outside his/her lines?
So thus I am confused as to why sell on limited register then encourage you to breed? Why not sell to you on main register so you can breed? Or sell on a dual ownership contract? This type of contact varies between every breeder-client but goes along the lines of 'you keep pup, you raise and show pup, and pup is then included in breeder's planned breedings and you might then get
first dibs on a puppy, or a fee'. You probably would get to whelp and raise the litter in some contracts.

But, if the breeder you wherever into that agreement with was only the owner of the sire, then that person has no use for your pup as mating father/daughter is not generally useful (some exceptions apply, a topic for a
different) thread.... Then I'm still not understanding why they would put your pup on limited... And then direct you to a 'nice dog' who may or may not be papered...

I'm confused! I'm really confused.... But I'm also worried for you and your pup that this confusing situation might lead you far away from your goal of registered breeding of quality cockers...

You feel exactly how i do which is why i am getting defensive... i am confused that she has a breeder friend with a great dog for her but wont put main register on her... it is like i said though at the request of the mothers breeder. i think though the breeder does know that i only want sasha if any to have one litter and then i will desex so maybe she is just helping me out in a way so i at least have a dog to breed her with with a good background and not one that i have no idea where it came from?? i dont know... its all confused me... and depressed me i must say.
