Yes she looks pure but what about the daddy doggy?
Yes $250 with vacc,m/c, vet checked & wormed reg is fair as you could not really ask more without knowing bloodlines & history.

I didn't get her from a shelter. And yeah the Dad is purebred, I have a photo of him.

Rule of thumb is eight weeks and I have a form that potential puppy buyers must fill out before I even consider talking price. As this was not a planned litter and the pups are not papered I think around the 280/300 mark is quite justified. It will cover your vet costs of chipping, needles ,desexing etc....

Most rescues charge the same amount or more.

Site still in construction so will post link when it's finished.

Okay 8 weeks sounds good. I thought 6 weeks sounded a little too soon lol

They are really gorgeous, the were born in the early hours of the morning yesterday. Starting at 11 o'clock, and the last one popped out at 8.30am =) it was a VERY long night, but it was the most amazing, incredible experience of my life. It was beautiful.

The first born however, was very much a surprise, and didn't make it... I feel so bad, like I should have seen some sign of her going into labour, but even after all the research I did... she fooled me. She acted totally normal... didn't get restless, didn't lose her appetite.

She trotted outside every now and again to go to the toilet, and was never out there longer than 3 minutes (otherwise I would have gone looking)

The last time she got to go outside, she bought something back with her... I though it was a rat or something... it was a puppy and it wasn't moving :'( I was devastated. I tried everything I could think of to revive it, even cpr... I burst into tears and cuddled Cleo so tight, the look in her eyes was heartbreaking.

I called the vet immediately and they talked me through what to do next, and told me the first one was gone.

The second came two hours later, i helped her break the sack and it took it's first breath, and began to move and cry. And of course, I began crying again out of relief and excitement.

They are all healthy, feeding and active. 5 boys, three girls. Six liver (well I call them chocco's), and 2 liver/white.

I am so happy they're here!
Bit scary though, considering we only found out she was definitely pregnant a week ago...

I'd double the $250 and include a $250 bond which you would refund on proof of desexing inside 8 months. Ie $500... AWL sells puppies for $350 or so. Already desexed.

Anyone who adopts a GSP needs a big secure back yard (fences at least 2m high), and loads of time to exercise. Or they go bonkers.

Thanks Hyacinth =) I will definitely ask a lot of question to potential buyers, and tell them everything they need to do to raise a healthy pup.

I am thinking maybe $300 plus their vet bill on top?

That's a great idea about the desexing bond too. I will put that to my partner when he gets home tonight. I am sure he'll agree with you too.

P.S. how long do I need to wait to get Cleo desexed, is it 8 weeks? The last thing I want is a mangy mutt breaking into my backyard and getting her preggers again!

Being a not-so-common breed, I think they'll be snatched up in no time, and im really glad you're considering a spay/nueter contract.
She can be spayed as soon as the pups are weaned, so 6-8 weeks.

I personally would charge only what they cost you to raise. Work out how much food, vaccinations, worming, bedding etc cost you and maybe add $50 for your trouble.
To be blunt, they aren't really "worth" anything in monetary terms as they have no papers etc.

Make up a puppy pack for their new homes, if you need help on what to go in the pack just let me know.

Puppy packs can consist of some or all of these:

General information about the breed: Breed standard, temperament, characteristics etc.
How to care for a puppy, everything from toilet training to teething.
Health checks and certificates (including vaccination card and proof of worming)
Photos of the parents and photos of the pups development (most future owners love having pics)
Diet sheet detailing current and future needs

Charging an extra $250 upfront and then offering that as a refund on desexing is a fantastic idea. You just have to set that money aside for the refunds and don't spend it!

I agree with crested also you don't know the bloodlines & history behind them.
The extra $250 desex refund is a good idea but you have tyo keep in good contact for it to work.

That's a really great idea about the puppy pack! I will definitely be doing that. Thanks

Yeah I am going to add up how much it costs to raise them, plus vet bill, and then decide on the final figure

I have been browsing around in the newspaper and online at what other people are selling litters for as well.
