Temperature up and then down, refusing food, vomiting, start to watch for contractions, shouldn't be long now, lead her to her whelping box, let her tear up newspaper etc, don't let her out without keeping a close eye on her, take a torch and watch every step.

Have your vet number up on the fridge, have a stack of newspaper ready to change the papers, a hot water bottle and a blanket to put in the corner of the whelping box or somewhere close so that the puppies can be kept warm while she concentrates on the next arrival, some face washers or hand towels to rub puppy to stimulate them, clear the membrane from around the nose for her if she is tiring.

It's not unusual for a large breed dog to take quite a few hours depending on the number of puppies.

I took photo's of each pup immediately upon it being cleaned up as mine all had distinguishing markings, previously I would put put different coloured ribbon around a leg for my kelpies.

    Good luck with it all.

Good luck with it all, all but one of my litters, the most current one, whelped in the early hours of the morning.

Watch for signs of her straining/pushing and note the time.

Sounds like you have a long night ahead.

Large breeds can sometimes take 8-10 hours if they are having a litter of 8-10 whereas medium sized bitches might only take 3-4 hours for the same number.

Larger breeds do tire, assist in small ways, breaking the membrane at the nose and mouth and let her take over from there or cutting the cord for the last few puppies if she is tiring, but they normally handle the first 5 or so without much trouble.

and watch her gum colour. If she is straining and it has been a while since her last pup was born just watch her colour. If she gets too red or too white then call your vet, the stress might be too much or she might have a pup stuck.
Fingers crossed that you dont need to do this though, just thought I should let you know
