She needs to see the vet...retained placenta isn't a good thing.

Do you know if the retained placenta has come away yet?

A little bit of panting as 8 suckle is normal, when they are not at her (feeding) does she quickly stop the panting?

If she is, an injection to help clean her out would be a good idea.

As I said the room needs the chill taken off it, but not made too hot, 8 bodies + mum can get warm, but you don't want the chill night air to come down on them and you don't want the heat to be directly on her either.

Have you seen her up and walking? Is her gait nice and relaxed not stiff and awkward? Has she shown interest in food yet?

If you have any doubts about this panting and are comfortable that the room temperature is right it's best to get the vet out, it is too hard to make guesses via a forum.

if she gets the shakes get her to the vet quick! She could have milk fever and that is deadly if not treated. Like the others said if she has not passed all the placentas yet I would get her to the vet. If she does not seem to recover from what ever is happening call your vet and see what they say.
