very cute, she'll get the hang of it and they will drink from either side by just pushing under her and each other. If they're not getting enough milk you'll hear little cries and they won't settle down to sleep.

    Good news.

Sometimes if you've got little ones that the greedy pups push out of the way it's a good idea to place them on the rear teats, they have more milk. That way they can have a good feed before the others drain the upper ones and make a bee line for the rear.

If the same ones keep crying it's worth having a look at the roof of their mouth to see what their palette looks like. If you don't know what to look for look in the mouth of one of the big greedy ones and then compare it with the crying pup.

Often after about a week the little ones almost catch up to the bigger ones and get pretty good at pushing their way in and no longer need any help.

and also forgot to add cleft palate means that the upper palate hasnt formed properly leaving a opening in the palate
