    Default Newbie Needing Advice on Pregnant Girl

    hey all my rotty x shepard {her mum was full shep and father full rottie} was mated on the 13th of april 2010 with a pure rottie by all calculations she is 61 days today on day 58 she was showing ALL the signs of going into labour but today nothing she has stopped it all her temp is always at 37.6-37.8 right now its at 37.4 she has milk leaking everywhere haha but she hasnt had any discharge and is not really swollen down there when do dogs normally go into labour i have had soooo many different opinions i dont know which 1 to listen to lol help would be muchly appreciated and please do not judge me i researched everything asked my vet all the questions i needed to know and dont judge the fact mum is a cross breed either please i would just like some advice she has no discharge like people say she should have her temp is still fine but she is restless and like whinging [very soft cry] maybe its cause she is uncomfy she has had all her scans and xray and we are expecting 7 healthy puppies with a perfectly healthy mum

    i have spoken to my vet thank you very much but she is only at day 61 until she reaches day 63-65 with no signs of labor they will not do anything so please do not come here criticizing me when im doing EVERYTHING by the book!!!!

    If they won't do anything then perhaps you should get a new vet. I'd think with these concerns they should be able to advise you.

    What im suggesting is ask your vet what you have asked us.

    i have asked my vet what i have asked you but i want to know from a breeder not a vet yes maybe vets know about all animals but unless they have bred a dog their selves they may not know as much as a breeder does i am getting as much info as possible before its to late

    Im not a breeder, but im a vet nurse.

    Big breeds, like Rottis and Shepherds will usually deliver later than the average 'due date'.

    Once her temperature drops below 37 degrees, she will most likely go into labour within 24 hours.
    The first stage of labour is when the uterine contactions begin. She'll be uncomfortable and pacing and panting. Some bitchs even shiver. This can last between 6 to 17 hours.
    The next stage are the puppies.

    Thats only the 'written' part. I have no 'practical' experiance to share.

    yes i may be a BYB but thats how you all started off i bet i have had health checks i have had the scan done and the xray my female is up to date with vaccinations and so is the father the pups will also be vaccinated and everything else my girl is being looked after properly is on the right diet and has great care she is in perfect health so dont go udging me!!
