Thread: Why Do We Breed?

Thanks Ashaari. It is very beautiful. It's very sad when we're made to feel guilty for breeding - but it's all too common these days. My vet adores my dogs, but has even said to me "Why not just desex? It's cheaper and easier? Breeding is so much cost and work."

But it is worth it, no matter what accusations people want to level at breeders. I had a visit recently from a dear person who is on a waiting list for a pup - she knows it will be several years for one from the dog of mine that she loves and admires greatly, she doesn't mind. her face lights up just talking about the possibility of that special pup someday. That is enough sometimes to remind me that I'm not evil.

Thats great Natty!!! I love the hopeful sparkle in their eyes when they talk about their future baby. And even better was when one of my families came to get their pup, they had waited fr a long while because they got on my list after loosing their old tibby and they wanted a specific colour and marking. When they finally came to get him they cried as soon as they saw him! And god bless him he wiggled out of my hands and ran over to them, tail wagging, to give them hugs! I have never been more proud of breeding than at that moment.

Breeding, Showing, Training and general crazy making!!!

Holy hell natty, that's...well, just shocking.

My life with the GSD would never have started if not for great breeders.

Sure, some crappy ones, but if a person is even somwwhat educated on what to look for, the average person could ascertain a good breeder from a bad one rather easily, I would like to think, anyway.

Natty, Ash and especially MAC - you do a wonderful job! Many I'm sure would agree with me.

Thats beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing.

Just remember, there are always people who will appreciate all the hard work, time and money you put into breeding, just for that little sparkle you see in a persons eye who has been waiting for that puppy for who knows how long. Thank you, all of you, for making some lucky peoples lives better.
