I too have no experience with breeding, but have had a thought, mind you, right or wrong, its just a thought with regard to the unwanted suckling. Could you cut a leg of a stocking and slide it on Bailey? So as to cover her belly??? I can't imaging they could suckle through the stocking???

unfortunately they have teeth now and they are VERY big considering their age...let alone as sharp as needles lol. I dont think the stocking would help. Maybe some tougher material though Thanks Shar you have given me some food for thought.

I had a bitch that took over a litter of kittens as if they were her own.
My personal opinion is that if the pups and She are all happy with the arrangement then all is good. I wouldn't though like her developing milk and I have no real clue if she could do it at the pup's advanced age. Maybe distraction etc when this happens may be the better option. If she cleans up for them then that is less for you to do, lol.
I am just thinking of my own situation with my pups, if they had lost Pretty at that age.
I would be thinking that with teeth etc that the surrogate would tire of that and push them away anyway and if the pups were well fed they would only be doing it for the comfort factor. I would be kinda awwwww, how wonderful is that! Just my opinion.
